Clitolyophyllum

Clitolyophyllum Sesli, Vizzini & Contu, in Sesli et al., Canadian Journal of Botany 94(2): 75 (2016)

Etymology: Clitolyophyllum is a compound name, reflecting the morphological similarity and phylogenetic proximity to Clitocybe and Lyophyllum.

Diagnosis: It is characterized by a clitocyboid habit; eccentric stipe; hyaline, smooth, and inamyloid basidiospores; nonsiderophilous basidia; by fruiting on dead tree bark; and unique ITS/LSU/rpb2 sequences.

Type Species: Clitolyophyllum akcaabatense E. Sesli, Vizzini & Contu, in Sesli et al., Botany 94(2): 75 (2016)

Note: So far, the type species is known only from Akcaabat, Hidirnebi, Trabzon, Turkey, but it is not known whether its occurrence is limited to this area.
