Barcheria

Barcheria T. Lebel, in Lebel et al., Mycol. Res. 108(2): 210 (2004)

Etymology: The genus name, Barcheria, is in honour of Barbara Archer, an enthusiastic and versatile collector who has contributed much to the knowledge of the arid-land fungi of Western Australia.

Basidiome astipitate, with a chambered gleba completely enclosed by the peridium. Gleba rapidly changing colour to fawn or red when exposed or cut. Latex absent. Clamp connections absent in all tissues. Basidiospores subglobose to broadly ellipsoid, smooth, thick-walled, hyaline in KOH and water, strongly dextrinoid in Melzers reagent. Germ pore lacking.
