Entocybe

Entocybe T.J. Baroni, V. Hofst. & Largent, in Baroni et al., North America Fungi  6(12): 8 (2011)

Etymology: partly from Entoloma, partly from Rhodocybe because of the morphological similarities, feminine as for other genera ending in –cybe.

Diagnosis: Differing from species of Entoloma sensu lato by obscurely angular basidiospores with 6-10 facets (angles) in polar view and undulate-pustulate or rounded pustulate surface ornamentation overall, similar to basidiospores of Rhodocybe, or ornamentation composed of broken interconnected ridges with isolated pustules interspersed. Also differing from Entoloma sensu lato by RPB2, LSU, and mtSSU molecular sequences.

Index Fungorum number: IF519983

Type Species: Entocybe trachyospora Largent, T.J. Baroni & V. Hofst., in Baroni et al., North America Fungi 6(12): 9 (2011)
