Etymology: Mayamontana honors the Mayan people and refers to the Maya Mountains.

Diagnosis (In Latin): A Stephanosporaceis altris gleba pallide rubroaurantia vel rubra et sporis bilateraliter asymmetricis, laevibus, utriculo rugoso, pariete crasso, singulatim hyalinis vel pallide viridibus vel luteis, in massa pallide viridiluteis, pedicellatis.
