Gelacantha

Gelacantha V. Malysheva & V. Spirin, in Spirin et al., Nordic Journal of Botany 37: 8 (2019)

Etymology: From gelum’ (Lat., noun) – frost and acantha’ (Greek, noun) – spine.

Diagnosis: Basidiocarps effused, continuous, smooth to irregularly hydnoid, gelatinous, thin.  Hyphal structure monomitic; hyphae clamped. Cystidia absent; hyphidia present.  Basidia 24-celled, 1012 × 8.510 μm, pedunculate. Basidiospores hyaline, thinwalled, ellipsoid to ovoid, 5.57 × 46 μm. On rotten wood of conifers.
