Etymology: From ‘gelum’ (Lat., noun) – frost and ‘acantha’ (Greek, noun) – spine.
Diagnosis: Basidiocarps effused, continuous, smooth to irregularly hydnoid, gelatinous, thin. Hyphal structure monomitic; hyphae clamped. Cystidia absent; hyphidia present. Basidia 2–4-celled, 10–12 × 8.5–10 μm, pedunculate. Basidiospores hyaline, thinwalled, ellipsoid to ovoid, 5.5–7 × 4–6 μm. On rotten wood of conifers.
