Protoacia

Protoacia Spirin & V. Malysheva 2019, in Spirin et al., Nordic Journal of Botany, 37, 8 (2019).

Etymology: From ‘protos’ (Greek, adj.) = primal and ‘acus’ (Lat., noun) = needle.

Diagnosis: Basidiocarps effused, continuous, gelatinous, thin, hymenophore hydnoid, spines up to 1 mm long. Hyphal structure monomitic; hyphae clamped, very thin-walled, easily col­lapsing. Cystidia absent; hyphidia present. Basidia 4-celled, 7.5–10.5 × 6–9 μm, pedunculate. Basidiospores hyaline, thin-walled, broadly ellipsoid to subglobose, 5–6.5 × 4–5.5 μm. On strongly decomposed logs of conifers.
