Etymology: In reference to the name of the type genus Piskurozyma
Diagnosis: Basidiocarps absent. Pseudohyphae and true hyphae may be present. Clamp connections on dikaryotic hyphae occasionally present. Haustorial branches not present. Sexual reproduction with holobasidia. Budding cells present. Ballistoconidia absent. Fermentation usually absent. Nitrate usually utilised. Major CoQ system CoQ-10.
