Inocutis

Inocutis Fiasson & Niemelä 1984, in Dai, Y.C., Fungal diversity, 45, 131-343 (2010)

Diagnosis: Basidiocarps annual, pileate. Pileal surface yellowish to brown, hispid, velutinate to rough. Pore surface yellow to brown. Context brown, corky, granular core present at base. Hyphal system monomitic; generative hyphae simple septate; tissues darkening in KOH. Hymenial setae absent. Basidiospores ellipsoid, more or less brownish, thick-walled, smooth, IKI, CB– (mature, brown spores) or CB+ (juvenile, pale coloured spores). On wood of angiosperms, causing a white rot. Inocutis is a homogeneous genus, and it was included in Inonotus sensu lato (Gilbertson & Ryvarden 1986; Ryvarden & Gilbertson 1993; Dai et al. 1997; Ryvarden 2005). It is closely related to Inonotus sensu stricto. Both genera have coloured and thick-walled spores. Character-absence of setae, which are deviating features among Inonotus sensu lato.
