Diagnostic characters: Basidiomes pileate-stipitate. Hymenophore lamellate or smooth. Hyphal system dimitic. Clamp-connections present. Spores hyaline, smooth, nonamyloid, non-dextrinoid, thin walled. Cystidia present as gloeocystidia or thick-walled cystidia. Mating system heterothallic and tetrapolar. Producing a white-rot.
