Diagnosis: Basidiome perennial, resupinate to slightly effused-reflexed, woody hard. Hymenophore odontioid, gray to olive gray. Aculei scattered to dense, conical, rigid, brittle. Margin determined, velvety, narrow. Subiculum cinnamon or olive gray to brownish gray, woody hard, darkening in KOH. Hyphal system dimitic. Generative hyphae thin- to thick-walled, hyaline, nodose-septate, with scattered secondary simple septa. Skeletal hyphae thick-walled to subsolid, light brown. Cystidia numerous, clavate, hyaline to light brown, thick-walled, apically encrusted, blunt, embedded or slightly projected. Basidia clavate, hyaline, with 4 sterigmata and a basal clamp connection. Basidiospores ellipsoid, hyaline, thick-walled, echinulate, amyloid. Causing a white rot on living Quercus in Japan and China. Monotypic genus.
