Celatogloea simplicibasidium

Celatogloea simplicibasidium (Lindsey & Gilb.) P. Roberts 2005, in Roberts, Mycologist, 19(2), 69-71 (2005).

Basionym: Laeticorticium simplicibasidium Lindsey & Gilb. 1977

Diagnosis: Basidiomes within the hymenium of the host, not visible to the naked eye. Hyphae hyaline, 2.5 – 3.5 mm wide, thin-walled, with clamp-connexions and occasional tremelloid haustorial cells. Hyphidia absent. Cystidia absent. Basidia irregularly tubular, narrowing towards apex, aseptate, mostly monosterigmate but occasionally producing one or more subsidiary sterigmata, arising from swollen, often stalked probasidia which become distinctly thick-walled. Overall 60 – 90 x 4 – 5 μm, the probasidia swollen up to 10 μm wide. Basidiospores subglobose to ellipsoid (Q = 1.2 – 1.4), 9.5 - 13 x 8 – 11 μm, some producing secondary spores, germinating by ellipsoid to oblong yeast cells, 4.5 – 7.5 x 2.5 – 4 μm.

Index Fungorum Number: IF369344
